Design
The Wrangler is a unique SUV as it's one of a handful of vehicles that's offered as both a two-door and four-door model. The four-door model can comfortably seat five passengers and carry about ten carry-on cases, whereas the two-door model has less cabin and cargo space. Additionally, the Wrangler features detachable doors and a roof to give passengers an open-air feel. There are even tough plastics throughout the cabin to help withstand anything from boots, pets, or heavy gear.
Performance
The new Jeep Wrangler is powered by multiple different engines. Drivers will find that the Base model is powered by a 3.6-liter 285-hp V-6 with a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission.
The other engine options include:
- Turbocharged 2.0-liter 270 hp four-cylinder (automatic transmission only)
- Turbocharged 3.0-liter 260 hp diesel V6 (Rubicon Far Out only)
- 6.4-liter 470 hp V8 (automatic, four-door Rubicon only)
- 375 hp Plug-in hybrid powertrain
Technology
No matter where your journey takes you, you'll be kept entertained by the various features offered in the new Wrangler. Base models will have minimal features like air conditioning and power windows. All other models will come with a more comprehensive list of features.
Additional features found in higher trims include a 12.3-inch monitor with Jeep's Uconnect 5 software, Apple Car Play and Android Auto, and an onboard navigation system with over 2,000 mapped trails. Also available is active noise cancellation throughout the cabin.
Safety
Whether you're traversing a trail or maneuvering through the urban jungle, the Wrangler will ensure you stay safe. Basic safety features found on this model include skid plates and fog lights, with more comprehensive features like blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward collision mitigation offered on higher trims.
Trims
The new Wrangler is available with six main trims and three sub-trims. The main trims include the two-door models Sport and Rubicon. Then there are the four-door trims called the Sahara, High Tide, and Rubicon 392.
The selection of sub-trims, which add varying degrees of features, include Sport S, Willys, and Rubicon X.
Main Trim: Two-Door
Sport: This base model offers only basic features such as crank windows and manual door locks. However, advanced features like a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration are available. Additionally, there are fog lights, tow hooks, and skid plates.
Rubicon: The Rubicon increases the Wrangler's off-road capability with features like 33-inch all-terrain tires, electronic locking front, electronic disconnecting front stabilizer bar and rear differentials, and rock rails.
Main Trim: Four-Door
Sahara: This more upscale model provides 18-inch wheels, keyless entry, an upgraded driver information display, and heated front seats and steering wheel.
High Altitude: This well-equipped Wrangler is based on the Sahara's design and offers leather upholstery, power-adjustable front seats, rear parking sensors, and an integrated navigation system.
Rubicon 392: As the highest trim, the Rubicon 392 offers the best luxury and tech features of the High Altitude and some Rubicon features too. These include high-performance brakes, a two-inch suspension lift, fox shock absorbers, and the Xtreme 35 package.
Sub Trims
Sport S: Adds several features to the base model's design, such as a leather-wrapped steering wheel, air conditioning, and power windows and door locks.
Willys: The Willys is based on the four-door Sport S trim. It has a few extra styling details and upgrades, such as 33-inch tires and rock rails.
Rubicon X: The most luxurious and capable Rubicon, the Rubicon X offers an integrated front Warn winch, leather upholstery, an integrated navigation system, a three-piece hardtop, and more.
