RHO

The RHO (Ram High Output) is the performance off-road truck for buyers who wanted TRX power without the Hellcat engine and supercharger complexity. The 500-hp Hurricane High Output I-6 is actually more efficient than the old 6.2L and produces 525 lb-ft of torque through all four wheels. Durham & Triangle Area

Which RAM Makes Sense for Triangle-Area Buyers?

The Research Triangle has a specific truck profile. On the commercial side: construction contractors running between Durham, Chapel Hill, and Cary on US-15-501 and I-40 are hauling materials and tools, and the Tradesman or Big Horn is almost always the right entry. On the personal side: a dual-income family in Durham that also owns a boat for Jordan Lake, a side-by-side for the mountains via US-70 West, or a camper parked in Mebane needs a truck that tows 10,000 lb and is comfortable enough to commute in — that's the Laramie or Limited territory.

The Rebel gets less use on Triangle roads than it would in the Rockies — but Falls Lake off-road trails, the Uwharrie National Forest trails on US-24/27 out of Asheboro, and the Virginia Blue Ridge via I-85 North are all within a two-hour drive. Buyers who use their truck for those trips while also living on I-40 North during the week consistently land on the Rebel or RHO for the suspension difference alone.
