2026 Jeep Cherokee in Durham, NC

All-New Jeep
Cherokee
42 MPG City -- 33 MPG Highway -- 37 MPG Combined -- The most fuel-efficient Jeep ever produced. No plug required.
Completely Redesigned.
Unmistakably Cherokee.
The Cherokee is back -- and it came back differently. Built on the all-new STLA Large platform, the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is larger, more efficient, and more technologically equipped than anything the Cherokee nameplate has ever carried. The boxy, upright design -- the one that made the original great -- is back. A new 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid powertrain delivers 37 MPG combined and over 500 miles of range without a single charging cable.
For Durham drivers navigating daily commutes on I-40 or US-15-501 alongside weekend trips toward the Blue Ridge or the NC coast, the Cherokee reframes the trade-off. Trail Rated. Standard AWD. Active Driving Assist standard on every single trim. And a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen standard before you've looked at a single option package.
Sport Durst has Cherokee inventory arriving. Call 919-808-4529 or browse current availability below.

The Most Efficient
Jeep Ever Built.
No plug required. The hybrid system manages itself -- you just fill up with regular gasoline and drive further than you thought possible.
The 1.6-liter turbocharged hybrid combines a gasoline engine with two electric motors and a 1.08 kWh battery pack. Total system output is 210 horsepower and 230 lb-ft of torque -- adequate and smooth for everyday driving, with the electric motors eliminating turbo lag at low speeds. Power routes through Jeep's new EVT (Electronic Variable Transmission), which is purpose-built for this hybrid system. AWD is standard on every trim.
The city fuel economy figure -- 42 MPG -- is where the hybrid story really lands. That's almost twice what the previous Cherokee returned, because the hybrid system runs predominantly on electric power in low-speed stop-and-go conditions. Durham's stop-and-go traffic on NC-147, US-15-501, and the routes around RTP is exactly the driving cycle that makes hybrid efficiency real, not theoretical.
This is not a plug-in hybrid. There is no charging cable, no charging schedule, no range anxiety. You fill it with regular gasoline -- full stop.
- 1.6L Turbo + Dual Electric Motors -- No Plug Required
- AWD Standard -- All Trims
- 37 MPG Combined / 42 City / 33 Highway (EPA Est.)
- 500+ Mile Driving Range on a Single Tank
- 3,500 lb Towing Capacity -- Properly Equipped
- Trail Rated -- Selec-Terrain Standard
Electric motors dominate at low speeds. Stop-and-go traffic around Durham, RTP, and Chapel Hill is where you'll see 42+ MPG in real-world driving. The battery recharges through regenerative braking every time you slow down.
The gasoline engine takes the lead at highway speeds, with the hybrid system optimizing fuel delivery. 33 MPG on I-40 or US-421 heading toward the mountains. Over 500 miles before you even need to think about a gas station.
Trail Rated badge, standard Selec-Terrain traction management, and AWD give the Cherokee real capability on unpaved roads. The hybrid's instant electric torque is actually an advantage for low-speed off-road control.

The Boxy Look
Returns for Good.
The previous Cherokee strayed from the upright, squared-off design that made the original iconic. The 2026 brings it back -- and then some. A tall seven-slot grille, short front and rear overhangs, squared shoulders, and distinctive LED taillamps that only reinforce the angular stance. The Overland adds available 20-inch wheels and a two-tone gloss-black roof option. Plastic cladding is intentional here -- it projects a rugged image while protecting the body on trail approaches.
- All-New Upright Boxy Design -- Returns to Cherokee Heritage
- Seven-Slot Grille -- LED Lighting Standard
- Short Front and Rear Overhangs -- Trail Geometry
- Available 20-Inch Wheels (Overland)
- Available Two-Tone Gloss-Black Roof (Overland)
- Available Panoramic Sunroof
30% More Cargo.
One More Inch of Legroom.
The all-new Cherokee is built on a longer platform than its predecessor, and the interior reflects it directly. Jeep quotes 30 percent more cargo space than the previous generation. Rear legroom gains one extra inch. The cabin materials climb with the trims -- synthetic leather on Laredo, Capri leatherette on the Limited, genuine leather on the Overland. The dashboard is dominated by the 12.3-inch touchscreen and 10.25-inch digital cluster that are standard before you've spent a dollar on options.
- 30% More Cargo Space vs Previous Cherokee
- One Extra Inch of Rear Legroom
- Synthetic Leather -- Laredo Standard
- Capri Leatherette -- Limited Standard
- Genuine Leather -- Overland Standard
- Available Heated and Ventilated Front Seats (Limited+)

Bigger Than
It Looks.
The Cherokee's upright rear design pays dividends in cargo loading -- the near-vertical liftgate opening is tall and wide, making it easier to load awkward items than a sloping-roofline competitor. Available power liftgate on the Limited makes hands-free access natural when your arms are full from a grocery run near Southpoint or unloading camping gear after a weekend at Jordan Lake. Rear seats fold to expand the floor for longer cargo.
- 30% More Cargo Than Previous Cherokee
- Upright Liftgate Opening -- Wide and Tall Access
- Available Power Liftgate (Limited and Above)
- Flat-Folding Rear Seats
- Available Overhead Cargo-Area LED Lighting (Limited+)
- Multiple USB Charging Ports Throughout Cabin

- Wireless Apple CarPlay -- Standard
- Wireless Android Auto -- Standard

140+ Safety Features.
Active Driving Assist Standard.
The 2026 Cherokee offers 140 standard and available safety features. Active Driving Assist -- Level 2, hands-on adaptive cruise with lane centering -- is standard on every trim from the base Cherokee up.
Active Driving Assist
Level 2 driver assistance -- adaptive cruise control with automatic lane centering. Reduces fatigue on I-40 commutes to RTP and NC-147 through downtown Durham. Standard on every trim, which is genuinely unusual in this segment.
Auto Emergency Braking
Forward collision warning with Automatic Emergency Braking including Pedestrian and Cyclist Detection. Also includes Intersection Collision Assist -- a newer system that watches for cross-traffic during turns. Standard on every trim.
Blind Spot Monitoring
With Rear Cross Path Detection -- standard on all trims. Lane changes on I-40 or US-70 are more confident knowing the system is watching blind zones. Also includes Rear Automatic Emergency Braking for backing situations.
Drowsy Driver Detection
Monitors steering patterns and issues alerts if signs of driver fatigue are detected. Useful on longer Triangle-to-mountains trips on US-421 or runs down to the coast on US-264. Standard on all trims.
360 Surround View Camera
A 360-degree surround view camera system is standard on the Limited trim -- useful for parking in dense urban areas near Duke's campus or backing into tight trailhead spots. Optional on lower trims.
Rain-Sensing Wipers
Standard on every Cherokee trim. Durham's weather shifts fast -- afternoon thunderstorms are common in late summer, and automatic wiper response reduces distraction during sudden rain on the highway.
Four Trims.
Every One a Hybrid.
All four 2026 Cherokee trims use the same 1.6L Turbo Hybrid, AWD, 37 MPG, 12.3-inch screen, and Active Driving Assist. Contact Sport Durst at 919-808-4529 for current availability and pricing.

Trail Rated.
3,500 lb Towing.
The Cherokee carries the Trail Rated badge and is built on the STLA Large platform with genuine off-road geometry -- short front and rear overhangs for approach and departure angle, standard AWD, and Selec-Terrain traction management. The hybrid's instant electric torque is actually a capability advantage at low speed on the trail, where smooth and controllable power delivery matters more than peak output. And when you're not on the trail, 3,500 lb towing capacity handles a small camper for a Blue Ridge weekend or a utility trailer for a home project.
- Trail Rated -- Five Off-Road Categories Validated
- 3,500 lb Towing -- Properly Equipped
- Standard AWD -- All Trims
- Selec-Terrain Traction Management -- Standard
- Hybrid Electric Torque -- Advantage on Low-Speed Trails
- Short Overhangs -- Approach and Departure Geometry

Driving Position.
Built Around You.
The all-new Cherokee's interior prioritizes driver information without distraction. The 12.3-inch touchscreen and 10.25-inch digital cluster dominate the dashboard without eliminating physical controls for climate and other frequently-used functions -- a deliberate choice that makes the Cherokee easier to operate while driving than all-touchscreen competitors. The driver's seat position is upright and commanding, befitting the vehicle's boxy exterior. Active Driving Assist keeps tabs on lane centering and following distance, reducing fatigue on longer routes.
- 12.3-Inch Uconnect 5 + 10.25-Inch Cluster -- Both Standard
